Last Thursday I had a dinner date with my dearest Patty. I got to see Patty's new casa. It is too lovely for words. I love her style, I love her colors and I love her. Patty wanted to cook a tasty dinner for us. At the store we searched and searched for pine nuts. She wanted to put toasted pine nuts on the chicken. We had to have the store clerk help us find pine nuts which should have been a sign not to get pine nuts!
To make a long story short. New house + New oven= an exciting night!!!
Patty puts the pine nuts in the oven on broil and 4 short minutes later, BLACK SMOKE!! The pine nuts are on FIRE! We don't know what to do and both of us being very involved with the City of Tucson Fire Department we called out dear friend Tommy. (Also we had no fire extinguisher, once again new house and not fully equipped.) He told us to take the nuts out of the stove and put them outside. Well if we opened the stove flames came blazing out. So finally after the fire went down some, Patty grab the nuts and took them outside. The house was FULL of BLACK SMOKE. It was BAD.
We headed outside to get away from the smoke. The radio in the house was on and the country song What a beautiful mess I am in.... played. Patty and I couldn't stop laughing. It was a fun night and it was great to laugh as hard as we did.
I did manage to take a photo after some of the smoke cleared!
